The project
Vulcan Infra delivered pavement restoration works along Wallgrove Road, Horsley Park, following the installation of a potable watermain.
The works involved pavement profiling, excavation, lean mix placement, two layers of AC20 asphalt and a final AC14 wearing course.
Through innovative planning, strategic construction sequencing and practical problem-solving, Vulcan Infra developed a more efficient approach that required just one 50mm sacrificial asphalt layer, rather than multiple 150mm layers.
This streamlined methodology significantly reduced material requirements and construction time, delivering substantial programme efficiencies and cost savings for the client.
Working within tight construction timeframes, the Vulcan Infra team efficiently completed pavement profiling, excavation, lean mix concrete placement and two layers of asphalt during each shift.
The project demonstrates Vulcan Infra's ability to challenge conventional construction methods, combining technical pavement expertise with forward-thinking solutions to optimise delivery and achieve measurable commercial benefits.
